Hi all. Recently Garmin launched a new firmware update for their HRM Pro chest strap (version 8.8 I believe). I watched DC Rainmakers video about the update (and the launch of the new HRM Pro Plus) and noted that these two straps now broadcast speed. With it being summer here in the UK I’ve been doing my running outdoors, but tonight I was late getting my run in so opted for the treadmillThe HRM-Pro is great for accurately tracking your heart rate, but to access the bonus running dynamics, you’ll need to connect it to a Garmin watch, such as our favorite running watch, the Forerunner 245 Music, or our best value pick, the Forerunner 55. From there, the data will integrate in the Garmin Connect app, so you can both analyze If you are pairing a heart rate monitor, put on the heart rate monitor. The heart rate monitor does not send or receive data until you put it on. Hold . Select > Sensors > Add New. Bring the device within 3 m (10 ft.) of the sensor, and wait while the device pairs with the sensor. After the device connects to the sensor, an icon appears at the You need two garmin devices like two watches, bike computers, or similar. DC Rainmaker has a comparison tool you can use after that. There are Connect IQ data fields that can connect to an ANT+ HR sensor, so disconnect the HRM Pro from your Garmin, and connect it to such a datafield instead.
If all you want is a heart rate monitor then the HRM Pro is overkill for your needs. It has an onboard accelerometer which is used to calculate additional running dynamics but you'll only be able to access this data via a compatible Garmin watch. It can also store and record data, but again this feature is only compatible via the GarminBackup confirmation - I have an HRM, footpod & speed/cadence sensor paired to both my Fenix & 610 so one sensor, many watches works. What doesn't work is trying to pair a second HRM or footpod or speed/cadence sensor to a single watch when it already has one paired (although with the Edge 500 I think you have the opportunity to set up a second bike and thus pair second sensor of the same type) Buy Garmin HRM-PRO – Prices, Discounts & Availability. The price of this will fall by $/£/Eu40 as the months and years progress, indeed in Oct2020, you can already buy one for $30/£20 less than the rrp at Wiggle. Longer-term, the best deals you will get are when you buy this bundled in with a high-end Garmin.
HRM-PRO is advertised as being able to connect directly with your phone. In reality this is only partially true, it seems. Running Dynamics data is apparently only transmitted via ANT+ and it seems that the Garmin Connect Android app only connects via Bluetooth, even though the phone would support ANT+.
Yes, on the Zwift connect screen you should see your watch and HRM. Your strap overrides your wrist monitor. Use virtual run on watch and it will tell you to open Zwift. nedkelly21 • 1 yr. ago • Edited 1 yr. ago. I have been using Zwift with the Fenix 7xss and HRM Pro (for HR and Cadence) using virtual run mode + BLE Horizon treadmill (for Hit the refresh button and then on your Garmin you should be able to add your watch as a heart rate device. Once they are connected, the watch should display 1 device is connected, your heart rate and high accuracy. You should only have to pair once, the Garmin should remember your watch as a HR device. If it doesn't pair for subsequent rides Bring the watch within 3 m (10 ft.) of the sensor. NOTE: Stay 10 m (33 ft.) away from other wireless sensors while pairing. Hold MENU. Select Sensors & Accessories > Add New. Select an option: Select Search All Sensors. Select your sensor type. After the sensor is paired with your watch, the sensor status changes from Searching to Connected. LordOfTheTires 2 yr. ago. I'm hesitant to say anything, because I don't "know" and can't try myself as I don't have an HRM-DUAL but .. (I believe) The Garmin HRM Dual will connect to a Garmin watch, not the garmin connect app. To use the heart rate feature I believe you need to use a third party 'receives heart rate over bluetooth' app. Comprehensive review of the HRM-Pro chest heart rate strap from Garmin.
